BioCity Nottingham is one of the UK's largest and longest-running bioscience incubators, founded in 2003 on the former Boots R&D site where ibuprofen was discovered, and now operated by Pioneer Group as one of its network of life science campuses. It offers roughly 130,000 sq ft of high-specification chemistry and biology laboratories plus offices and coworking across four buildings — the Innovation Centre, Stewart Adams, Laurus, and the 50,000 sq ft Discovery scale-up building — housing around 70 companies. Its key draw for founders is genuinely elastic tenancy: easy-in/easy-out terms letting you take space on about a month's notice and scale back on roughly three months', combined with Pioneer's accelerator programmes, pre-seed and seed funds, and expert network.
