Science Creates runs Bristol's largest deep tech incubator network — three purpose-built city-centre sites (St Philips, Old Market and the new OMX, opened March 2026) totalling over 75,000 sq ft of CL2-ready lab and office space. Founded by serial entrepreneurs and delivered with the University of Bristol and Research England, it pairs wet-lab infrastructure (nitrogen gas lines to each lab, shared CL2 bacterial growth suite, autoclaves, fume cupboards, liquid nitrogen and hazardous waste handling) with a GM biosafety committee, mentoring platform and access to the SCVC seed fund. Unit DX was Bristol's first city-centre science incubator, founded in 2015 by Ziylo founder Dr Harry Destecroix; it rebranded as Science Creates in 2020 and the original Albert Road building now trades as Science Creates St Philips (the old unitdx.com domain has lapsed and redirects to a parked spam site). The 15,000 sq ft converted warehouse houses 10-20 early-stage deep tech teams in CL2-ready labs of 150-900 sq ft with 3.2m ceilings, ducted fume cupboard labs, a shared CL2 bacterial growth suite, nitrogen gas lines piped to every lab and on-site liquid nitrogen. It sits inside a wider Science Creates ecosystem of 75,000+ sq ft across three Bristol sites, with in-house mentoring, a partner network and an affiliated VC fund (Science Creates Ventures).
